We are off and rolling! I just created a new Meetup group in San Francisco, Pedal with A Purpose (http://www.meetup.com/Pedal-with-A-Purpose/), and cycling enthusiasts are joining!  Hot diggity!  If you are not familiar with Meetup, here’s the scoop.  I was introduced to it years ago in Cleveland when I was looking for others to practice Spanish.  Basically, a meetup group is like an online club created around a particular interest.  It typically costs the organizer a very modest fee to create the group, and normally no (or very little) fee to those who join the group.  In San Francisco it is huge.  A group probably exists for anything you can think of from wine tasting to urban chicken farming, and now there is Pedal with a Purpose, the cycling adventure group that I just created.  Meetup is how I met many of my closest friendsf when I first moved to San Francisco(that was via an indie live music Meetup group).

Our first adventure will be a two day cycling tour to take in Biketoberfest (http://www.biketoberfestmarin.com/) this Saturday.  This should be especially interesting since as I write, I am under the weather, out of shape, and have not tried any of new bike or camping equipment (nor dusted off the old stuff)….but I do like a challenge.  So here we go!  Go big or go home, right?  It will be an adventure indeed.  The details can be found on the new Meetup site if you are interested in joining us, or the group generally to find out about future adventures!
